Nuggets of Airbnb

How we rented a chalet for $ 18 in Colombia

We prefer residential apartments to hotels.
And there are two reasons for that :

1. As a rule, apartments and houses have a kitchen. Homemade food, you know.
2. Apartments, at the same cost, are always larger than the hotel room.
For those who don’t know, Airbnb is a service where homeowners rent it out to other people around the world for short—term.

On the way to Ecuador, we found a chalet for $ 18 per night!

Even for South America, the price is very low and, according to my estimates, should be at least $ 100.

Just so you know, we moved into a three-story mansion with a fireplace.

Such a house is a curiosity for Colombia. It was as if he had been taken from an Alpine village and placed here among the local huts.
The landlady lives here, in one of the rooms. But this does not bother us at all. On the contrary, it was as if we had come to visit our grandmother in the village. Yolanda is just a dandelion.
She owns a small garden and huge rolling meadows with a lake at the bottom. There are animals: a cat named Saki, chickens and cows.
This place is a landmark for me. Here, at the age of 33, I made my debut in an attempt to milk a cow. But! Failed. The warm udder did not burst into streams of fresh milk under the inexperienced hands of the traveler, but only splashed a couple of drops. And that, for sure, out of pity.
And every evening we look into the fireplace (don't think badly — there is a fire there at that moment), play board games, practice Spanish, pick blackberries in the garden, walk through the rolling meadows. And, of course, we study and work.

Yolanda signed up for Airbnb just a couple of months ago. I don’t think she’s very interested in earning extra money, but rather in communication. Maybe she doesn’t know about Couchsurfing yet.
In short, this is more than just a rental home. And such cases are not isolated. In Nicaragua, we also found a huge house for only $20 per night. In Alabama, the owner of the blueberry farm where we hung out on Workaway rented out a treehouse. In addition to the unique housing, there was a small lake with boats and several hectares of green land in private ownership.

Well, if you are thinking about an extra penny, renting out your home, then you are here.
