2. Choose your favorite options;
3. Write the host a message in the style of: "Hey. We are such and such, we are traveling there, we really liked your apartment. We are limited by budget. Will it be possible to stay with you for XX rubles/day?"
4. Wait for an answer.
Most of the hosts respond. Out of 10 requests, 8 are answered, of which two agree.
5. You will receive a special offer at an agreed price, which you accept and voila!

It's so simple that now we almost always manage to negotiate a 20% - 50% discount. Of course, unless it's a super tourist destination where the owners have a steady stream of customers.
