The family road trip that started Great RV Trip
My name is Evgeny Byakin, and I founded Great RV Trip.
Several years ago, my family and I visited the USA and noticed how many motorhomes were on the roads. We decided to try it ourselves, rented a large, ten-metre motorhome and spent ten days travelling around Florida.
I had expected renting a motorhome to be much like renting a car. Instead, I spent several days working through vehicle types, insurance, rental terms, campsites, water and electricity connections, maintenance and dozens of other details. Even with a good command of English, I had plenty of questions.
We loved the trip and decided to go further: buy our own motorhome in the USA and follow the Pan-American Highway to Argentina. Finding the right vehicle took about three months. We then lived in it for almost a year, travelling around 20,000 kilometres through 13 countries.
Friends and followers started asking where to find an RV, how to rent one, which route to take and where to stay. I realised they needed someone with first-hand experience who could explain how it all worked.
Great RV Trip began in March 2020. Our first job was actually planning a US itinerary. We then started working with rental companies, and in 2021 a customer booked their first Cruise America motorhome through us. At first, we handled just a few bookings a month. More destinations, partners and team members followed. Our approach stayed the same: understand the trip first, then find the right RV.

Our team
Great RV Trip has grown into a team of around 10−12 people. We work with travellers from different countries and keep learning about RVs through our own trips.
For one of our team meetups, we travelled around Turkey in several motorhomes. We chose the vehicles, planned the route, found overnight stops and used the onboard equipment. It gave us a chance to test the advice we give customers.
The trip showed how much vehicle size affects the pace of a journey and how tiring long daily drives can become. That experience helps us explain what a vehicle choice means on the road, beyond the specifications.

We regularly meet rental companies and get to know their vehicles in person. In Turkey, Evgeny met the teams at Let’s Go and Nomadic, drove their vehicles and helped organise group routes. In the USA, he visited Cruise America and El Monte RV to see how they operate and discuss working together.
Burning Man is another part of our work. Evgeny has attended the event himself. Alongside rental company requirements, we understand the practical preparation for an RV trip to the desert: choosing a pickup city, planning mileage, using a generator, cleaning the vehicle and returning it after the event.
Our first-hand experience does not cover every vehicle offered by every partner. We combine knowledge of the rental markets, direct contact with suppliers and experience shared by our team and customers.

Booking directly can work well if you have already chosen a rental company and understand its terms. We help when you want to compare suppliers, find a vehicle for your route and ask questions about the whole trip in one place.
It depends on the destination and supplier. In the USA and Canada, partner rates often mean the price is the same as booking directly, or lower. In some destinations, the price may include our services. We show you the final price and terms before you pay.
The rental company’s agreement sets the terms for maintenance, roadside assistance, security deposits and insurance claims. We stay in touch, explain what to do and help you communicate with the rental company.
